McLean bio

McLean Jesse designed and painted her first mural with Arts in The Alley during Jackson Ward’s Second Street music festival. McLean was thrilled to join such a creative service organization and help revitalize her own neighborhood with art. She looks forward to designing and painting more murals with Arts in The Alley in the near future, and recommends the experience for any one looking for fun volunteer work in their own community. In addition to designing and painting murals for Arts in The Alley, McLean Jesse is a local freelance artist, actress, and theatrical designer. Born and raised in Riner, Virginia, she attended James Madison University for Theatre. Upon graduation in 2008, she moved to Chicago, Illinois to begin her professional career as an artist and actress. McLean moved to Richmond in 2011 with her husband for him to attend law school at The University of Richmond. Here her career has blossomed. She enjoys instructing art classes at Wine and Design, displaying and selling her oil paintings at local boutiques and restaurants, and working both on and off stage with many local theatres. Her Richmond highlights include playing Clare in Virginia Repertory Theatre’s world premiere play Scorched Earth, and Laura in Sycamore Rouge’s upcoming production of The Glass Menagerie. McLean loves the creative community she found in Richmond and will continue to leave her mark as a visual and performing artist here for many years to come.
